Humans love a good story.

Stories help us organize a world schema with which to connect. A good story with a beginning, middle, and a reimagined end, is a powerful tool in advocacy and organizing work. As a fellow of the California Writing Project, I practice writing as a craft, as a teacher of writing, and a means for change.

As an advocate, I care deeply about the content; as a writer and an influencer, I understand the context, the formats, and the audience. I choose my words thoughtfully and with purpose - because words matter.

The Role of the Storyteller

Wearing a myriad of hats in front of different venues, I strive to be engaging and informative in roles such as:

  • the representative voice of CTA at the MTSS Conference in front of thousands at the keynote

  • as an official talking head at the official CDE livestream feed of the official State Board in Sacramento

  • as an off the cuff interviewer / journalist for FB live reports from the CTA conference and event circuit

  • storyteller in the Ganz style of using narrative to connect, energize, and organize

Statewide Storytelling as Union Advocacy

We strive narratives that creates connection. In creating the T3 narrative, the graphics and branding evolved along with the story.
